What should I name this post?

Alright yall... this is a blog post.  A blog post about everything and nothing.  A blog post because I feel guilty for not blogging.  A blog post for the sake of talking about myself...  Sounds great, right?  I know, but if you're really that bored already, just stop reading.  No one's forcing you to stay.  Anyway...

So, I'm going nuts!  We are packing up our apartment and moving in t-minus 8 days!  (Side note: isn't it weird how "t-minus" technically has two minuses... the "-" and the "minus"?!  Yeah.)  So, my life has been turned upside down.  I walk around the apartment just looking at stuff.  And we now have a huge portion of our study filled up with boxes that don't even have anything in them yet.  And we have totes and boxes just sitting in the middle of our living room on the floor, and we walk around them and kick them all day long.  But we can't move them because there is nowhere else for them to go.  But it's not really time to start for real packing yet, because we still have 8 days.  Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!  And we have so much to do before we move (you know, minor things like FINDING A PLACE TO LIVE!) that I just can't figure out what to do first!  Did you catch that?  We don't have a place to live yet... awesome.

So, this is a very stressful time for me, and even though I could (almost) not be more excited about this move, I find that I'm in a bad mood most of the time.  I don't really know why, but I guess I'm just so stressed that even the little things are making me snap.  And my brain will not shut up.  I've laid in bed the past few nights for at least an hour trying to sleep, but I just can't calm down enough.  How stupid is that?!  I know, right?!  I'm getting the chance of a lifetime, and I'm wasting the experience by being crabby all the time.  Like right now... why can't I stop complaining.  This is ridiculous.

Moving on!  So, I finished up all that yarn a couple of weeks ago.  And I was so eager to get it out of the house that I didn't even photograph it first.  So, I had to snap a couple of pics at work one day.  I haven't even looked at them yet.  In fact, I need to go get my camera and download them so that I can finish this post!  OK, all done!

So, those were one of my last projects before the move.  Now everything is taken apart and ready to be packed up.  :(  But, as I mentioned in an earlier post (I think), these yarns were bound for Lisa of Tri-Bec Creations so that it can all be made into something cute!  So, she posted this photo on facebook the other night, and I just had to share!

Here are two hats that she made from some of the yarn!  Aren't they so cute?!  She is so talented, so you should follow her blog and like her facebook page!  She's got this adorable crocheted, stuffed giraffe that she just started making, and it is ADORABLE!!!  So, go check out Tri-Bec Creations!

Well, the to do list is glaring at me, so I'd better get going!  I hope everyone has a quick Friday so that we can all get to the wonderful weekend!!!

Ready... OK!

Alright, here is your long-awaited update on my to do list progress!  Since I know you have been sitting at your computer all weekend waiting... lol.  Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've added more to my to do list than I have scratched off, but nevertheless, here are some things I have done:

~Finished up my bday list and got it emailed to everyone... I had a really hard time thinking of ANYTHING that was not related to weaving or spinning to put on there... oh well, I guess.
~The dyed yarn is done!  So, here are pics:

 So, this first one is a skein of Corriedale yarn that I spun and dyed back around Easter, and I just never got around to blogging about it... obviously.  The color is not quite right in the photo, its really more of a mulberry, rich purple with a just a hint to red to it.  The color is a combination of Black Cherry and grape kool-aid!  Oh, and I would like to add that directly after I spun this yarn, I did the math to figure out how many yards I came out with.  And, what did I do after that?  I promptly forgot the number.  Yup.  That's how I roll.  And apparently I am too lazy to go back through and count again... I probably should though... darn...

And this is one of this weekend's creations!  I dyed this and the rovings which you will see when you scroll down farther using the same three colors, but I dyed them completely differently, and got completely different results!  This was dyed in a skein of already spun yarn, and I used my three different colors of kool-aid, and just splashed them on however and wherever I felt like it.  So the skein is very unpredictable; the colors are very pastel, and blend together quite nicely.  Colors include: baby pink, white, sky blue, lavender, and medium pink.  I kind of like it.  And I think it might look nice in a baby's hat or accessory which is good since it is bound for a crocheter who makes baby accessories!  This is 120 yards of thick-thin yarn.  (I wrote this number down on a big post-it and stuck it on my to do list so I wouldn't lose it!!!)

~The dyed roving is all dry, and I am currently in the process of spinning it up!  Here are the in progress pics!

 Here is a pic of the roving laid out on the table just after being painted.  This process was extremely messier than the website suggested it would be.  I now have some lovely new electric blue stains on my kitchen table that I am slowly scrubbing away at.  Any way, the red is a combination or strawberry kiwi, cherry, and strawberry.  The electric blue is ice blue raspberry lemonade (love it!).  And the darker blue is berry blue (I think).  The electric blue is my fave!

 

And here are the rovings hanging up to dry.  I painted two different colorways (the other one was already rolled up is the last picture).

And here is some I've just spun on my spindle!  I'm thinking its name will be Tropical Punch.  Or something like that.

~Went tanning again... got burnt again...

~Did the laundry, cleaned the apartment, etc. (not on my to do list)

And I added a bunch of things to it... boo.  Anyway, I have made zero progress on the headbands.  I don't know why, but I just don't want to do them.  I wish I had two looms so that I could just do another project instead.  But I don't, so I have to finish this before I can make anything else... boo.

Weaving, Spinning, and Dyeing, Oh my!

Sooooo, my week is being a little weird.  How's yours?  I have been busy this week with fiber arts endeavors, but I still have little to report.  Mainly because my projects are not going as smoothly as I would like.  I started a new weaving project with some of the new yarn I got this weekend, but it's not going too well.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up.  It's just proving to be very difficult and not very fun.

I've also been spinning quite a bit.  And my hands are sore to prove it!  I've got some corriedale roving that is now 100% converted into yarn!  Yay!  I have been wondering where the names for the different types of wool come from, and I just googled it.  It turns out that the name of the wool is the name of the particular breed of sheep that the wool comes from.  And corriedale comes from a corriedale sheep which is a crossbreed from a Merino female and a Leicester or Lincoln male.  Interesting!  (Or maybe not if you aren't myself or my father.)  Anyway, as you can see, I've got almost 80 yards all wrapped up on my niddy noddy for setting.

 So, I'm now trying to decide what color to dye it.  And, after rummaging through my on-hand Kool-Aid supply, here are the options I came up with...

And I have no idea what color I should choose!  But, that can certainly wait until tomorrow, since the yarn is not even ready yet!  Hm..... decisions, decisions...

A Little Bit of Everything

Hello all!  Well, I've been working hard today!  I finished my latest project, dyed my first batch of yarn, and got a new project on the loom and started weaving!  So, first of all...  Here is my newest item for sale on Etsy.

Infinity Scarf in Beige and Purple Hand-spun

This great infinity scarf makes use of several of my favorite things!  It's got purple in it (always a plus).  The beige warp thread is a bamboo and silk yarn which is so, so soft.  And the purple yarn is my very own hand-spun yarn!!!  Yay!  So, I love this item, and I would love to keep it, but I would love it even more if it found a home with a wonderful customer!

So, I dyed my first batch of yarn today with Kool-Aid!  It was certainly interesting.  But its hanging up to dry right now.  And I'm really interested in seeing how it turns out!  So, I will definitely post pics tomorrow when its dry and everything.

Random:  The area I live in is under a tornado watch until 2:00 am!  We had some pretty wicked storms today, so I'm interested to see what the news has to say tomorrow.  And I live right by the Mississippi River, so I can't wait to got see how flooded it is tomorrow afternoon too!

In other news, I started my project with my purple hand-spun yarn!  Yay!  I still haven't decided what I'm going to use for the weft yet, because I really want to warp to be the focus, but I'll get there.  Oh, and I forgot to mention that I stayed up until midnight last night (which is really, REALLY late for me) to finish the yarn, just because I HAD to know how many yards I got.  And the total is... 28 yards!!!  Yaaaaayyyy!  So, I planned this new project around using it!  Here's a pic:

Ok, well, I'm going to go eat some willy worm.  (Not an insect, its a family dessert recipe involving homemade pie dough, lots of butter, lots of sugar, and lots of cinnamon.  Can you say YUM?!)

Random note of the day:  Last night, I had a dream about Pirates of the Caribbean (yes, the movie).  Only it wasn't a real part of one of the movies, it was made up... and I woke up this morning with the piratey song that they sing at the beginning of the third movie stuck in my head.  And of course, I only know like two lines, so I have been singing/humming/whistling/thinking those lines ALL DAY LONG!  Weirdo!
